The Land of the Sun

September 22, 2023

Peru, traditionally known as the Land of the Sun, is home to more than 4 million evangelical believers. The nation at the heart of the Inca empire was even home to several of the ancient people groups who perpetrated the story of the Flood through their folklore! The ancient Ancasmarca who lived near Cusco, told the story of a flood in which only a shepherd and his children survived, and later had to repopulate the earth. With such a rich Incan past, Spanish history, and Arab influence, Peru stands as a very culturally diverse nation. This cultural diversity proves itself to be gift from God, as Peru was uniquely designed to be culturally closer to the Arab world than it is to 9 other Latino countries! Source: NACLA Peru's rich Arabic culture began in 711 AD with the Muslim invasion of Spain. Source: Peru Muslims invade Spain The Lord was clearly at work, as centuries later in 1532, a North African influenced Spain conquered the Inca nation of Peru. Through centuries of war and invasions, the largest unreached people groups in the world now have a significant presence in Peru, a nation with millions of evangelical believers.
God knew in 711 AD that the Muslim people would be the the largest unreached people group today, and He has sovereignly positioned Peru with a culture able to reach the hundreds of millions of Muslims in need of Jesus Christ as their Savior.

More so, Peru has the fastest growing economy of Iberoamerica. Due to its growing economy, growing evangelical church, and cultural positioning, Peru has a high Mobilization Potential.
