As Deep Calls Unto Deep

September 22, 2023

Christopher Columbus landed in Honduras in 1502 and gave the land its name, meaning "depths" for the deep waters off its coast.
The Spanish began to colonize the land, and Catholicism and European values grew in impact, as it is now a descriptor of much of the culture in that region. Honduras is home to much violence and religious strife caused by the vast reach and power of the drug cartel.

While the vast majority of Hondurans are Catholic, there is a growing trend towards Evangelical Christianity. The Latin American region has the lowest number of unreached people out of all other regions in the world. The region is also home to an increasing amount of persecution and violence against Christians. Some of Honduras' Latin American neighbors, such as Mexico, are in the world's top 40 most persecuted countries. Source: Open Doors

Honduras is an agriculture-centered nation, with farmland making up 16% of the country and the agriculture industry employing 34% of the population. Source: Honduras Agriculture Honduran land is most known for its production of coffee, maize, and timber. This, combined with other factors, such as the nation's religious freedom and its cultural connection to the Arab world, give Honduras a high mobilization potential. Pray that the Lord would use the beauty and providential position of the Honduran church to be a sending power for His kingdom!
